The Commissioner for Public Utilities and Water assets, Emeka Ezenwanne made this known when some members of the I-Witness Media group visited him in his office at the government residence, Awka.

speaking at the significance of power, the commissioner hinted that availability of power for domestic and industrial uses is key to achieving the Anambra of our desires.

He found out that the government in its quest to improve availability of electricity in the state entered into partnership with Transmission agency of Nigeria (TCN) in August, ultimate year, to build a couple of transmission infrastructures around the country.

Ezenwanne further declared that the state is doing everything possible to provide the needed help to towns, companies, estates and individuals to improve power supply and boost economic activities in the state.

From January, 2018, to date, the state government has distributed over 500 transformers to various groups in the state”.

‘During the 2017 governorship election, our performing governor, Chief Willie Obiano made promises to communities, groups and individuals that state government will donate transformers to them.’

“Such individuals and groups have all received the transformers including: Dr. Prof. Godwin Maduka, Fed. College of  Education, Umunze, Nigeria Television Authority(NTA), Christ the King Estate, Oba, Aguezi Layout, Amanuke.”

Continuing, the commissioner mentioned such communities like, Abacha, UbuluIsiuzo, Amorka, Ohita, Okpoko and Enugu Umuonyia. Others are Awba Ofemili, Urum, Nteje, Aguleri, Isuofia, Amansea, Umueje, Igbakwu, Nkpor, Amiyi, Abatete among others.

Ezenwanne used the opportunity to call on ndi Igwe, PGs and ndi Anambra to help the government in protecting public projects sited in their locality.

He pointed out that the state government has a Public Infrastructure Monitoring Committee that handles such cases as theft, vandalism and others and appealed to them to work with the taskforce.
