Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade has effectuated his administration pledge to ceased brown-out in villages.
The governor, Ben Ayade, alongside the Minister of State, Power, Goddy Jedy, earlier commissioned same other 60kWp hybrid plants in Obudu Ranch Resort to upswings its recreational centres, also in Bottomhill Community in Obanliku Local Government Area, again on Friday, reiterated his commitment to end electricity failure in Ikom Local Government Area of Cross River State.
The 60KWA solar mini-grid power plant commissioning which took place at Okangha-Mpkansi community in Ikom was witnessed by Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade, who was ably represented by the Cross River State Commissioner of Power, Rt. Hon. Victor Agwu, Honourable Minister of State, Power, Goddy Jedy Agba OFR, representative of the MD of REA, and the Executive Director, Technical Services, REA, Engr. Bakar Sajou.
Commissioning the rural transformation power plants, Governor Ben Ayade, obliged the federal government and signatory project partners for their prompt intervention and power limelight geared towards uninterrupted electricity supply in the state.
Ayade, ably represented by the Commissioner of Power, Hon. Victor Agwu re-established that “just last week, we were in Obanliku, commissioning and breaking grounds for another solar power project. As a state, we want to express our gratitude to the Honourable Minister and the President for making this happen.”
“Electricity enlivens the socioeconomic activities in communities such as this. Therefore, the importance of providing adequate and reliable electricity in places like this cannot be overemphasized”.
The governor also postulated the requisite of the community power plant that, “it is important to point out that with the provision of this reliable electricity, this magnificent community is expected to witness growth in business and productivity.” he however commended the REA for the magnificent initiative and for giving Okangha-Mpkansi window (of opportunity) to explore Ayade’s agro-industrialization drive through agricultural mechanization, manufacturing and processing.”
Speaking Earlier, the
Honourable Minister of State, Power, Goddy Jedy Agba, said that the government’s solar electricity drive in rural communities is designed to perk up youths employability and polish up the economic activity in rural communities.
He avoched that with access to quality, ceaseless and sustainable electricity in the locality, smallholder farmers and businesses will be intumesce adding that, alot of entrepreneurs will be alleviated to discharge their trading in relieves.
